Mosquito Squad of Greater Charleston eliminates more than just mosquitoes. We also take care of other biting bugs like fleas, ticks, and no-see-ums.
Fleas are more than an itchy nuisance for your pet. Their bites can be painful, and can even cause illnesses such as skin dermatitis, tapeworms, anemia, tularemia, and more.
Our flea control program works similarly to our barrier control treatment, but we add something extra to the formula that also adds flea protection. This product prevents flea eggs from hatching and thus, stopping their next generation. This three-treatment series is highly effective (up to 95%), however it should be noted that flea control for your yard is only one aspect for flea protection. It’s very important to keep your pet protected from them with topical treatment or an oral treatment from your vet.
Another small but dangerous bug Mosquito Squad eliminates are ticks. They can carry all kinds of scary diseases, like Lyme disease, Babesiosis, Bourbon virus and more. They’re especially a problem for pets, who have no way of removing ticks themselves and can be a host for ticks for quite a while before their humans even notice and remove them. Luckily, the same time-released barrier treatment formula that we use for mosquitoes also eliminates adult ticks on contact, plus prevents tick eggs from hatching, thus stopping the life cycle.
We go one step further with ticks, though. We employ tick tubes, which are small biodegradable tubes stuffed with a treated cotton. Strategically placed around your yard, mice find this cotton and bring it back to their nests. Once a tick bites one of these mice, it is eliminated shortly thereafter. Mosquito Squad’s tick control eliminates the tick population in your yard up to 95%, thus greatly reducing the chances that your furry friend will pick them up and bring them in the house.
Also known as sand flies, no-see-ums get their nickname because they’re so tiny you can barely see them. These little bugs can pack a big punch, though. They’re very similar to mosquitoes in that only the females bite, and they need a blood meal in order to complete their reproductive cycle. A no-see-um bite leaves a small red dot that can actually spread to a two inch diameter that can last up to two weeks.
If you’ve got more of a problem with no-see-ums than mosquitoes, we highly recommend our misting systems for the most control. While their life span is only two days, a misting system programmed to go off at specified intervals and at your convenience with the push of a button is the most effective way to eliminate these pesky bugs.
